INTERNATIONAL NEWS 
1. FIDE candidates 2020 - MVL replaces Radjabov
Teimour Radjabov who is selected by becoming world cup champion 2019 , withdrew from candidates 2020 due to corona virus outbreak . I think its good opportunity for MVL . Its hard to tell what if FIDE cancelled candidates then again Radjabov get chance or not
2. Major events cancelled due to corona virus
  • Dubai open (29-march-2020 to 7-April-2020) 
  • Sharjah masters and challengers ( 8-April-2020 to 15-April-2020)
  • Bangkok open (11 April 2020 to 19 April 2020)
  • Reykjavik open (17 April 2020 to 24 April 2020
3. Gukesh wins Cannes open 2020
D Gukesh who is just 13 years old wins Cannes international open chess tournament. He scored 7.5/9 with rating performance of 2667 and won the prize money of 1800 Euro .
4. P Nikolic wins old masters tournament 
 The 80th Noteboom tournament took place in Leiden . In addition to the Open, a four-way battle was carried out by the "old masters". Nikolic won ahead of Hübner, Karpov and Timman. This event was started in 1910 .Open event won by IM schoppen casper
5. Dimitri Reinderman won Batavia  tournament
Since 2009, a yearly ten-player chess tournament takes place at Café Batavia 1920, a comfy coffeehouse located close to Amsterdam's central station . this year tournament took place from 20 Feb to 1st march .
6. Women grand prix started in Lausanne ,Switzerland 
The Lausanne FIDE Women's Grand Prix is a 12-player round-robin taking place in Lausanne, from 2-13 March 2020. It forms the third of four stages of the 2019-20 FIDE Women's Grand Prix, which will determine two places in the 2021 Candidates Tournament. 16 players compete in the series, each playing in three of the four events . Currently Indian GM Dronavali Harika and Russian GM Aleksandra Goryachkina with 3.5/5
7. GM Bogdanovich killed by Laughing gas.
Media reports say Stanislav Bogdanovich and Alexandra Vernigora - also a top chess player - were found with balloons containing the gas, nitrous oxide. The gas is inhaled using a balloon. Stanislav is young and has pick rating of 2815 in blitz . this is huge loss for chess community 
INDIAN NEWS 
1. Praggnanandhaa wins TOISA chess award 2020
Indian GM R Praggnanandhaa wins Times of India sports award on 5th March 2020 . Vishy Anand and Praggnanandhaa was nominated for that award but organizer decide to give award to Praggnanandhaa .
